Melatonin in critically ill
The first phase of this project has led to an important publication of pharmacokinetics, entitled:
Pharmacokinetics of orally administered melatonin in critically ill patients.
The second phase started in 2007 and involved 96 critically ill patients admitted to the Hospital San Paolo in Milan between 2007 and 2009.
After a long and complex statistical analysis, we're publishing the first results of a randomized and controlled double-blind study which has demonstrated the effectiveness of melatonin in reducing the use of analgesics and sedatives.
This research project about the potential of melatonin has been already presented at international conferences and is currently being published in scientific journals.
